Outdoor Fun for Everyone

Lake Tahoe Beaches

Some of the best beaches in Lake Tahoe are found on the South Shore. The beaches of South Lake Tahoe tend to have the calmest, warmest waters, which are ideal for families and novice swimmers. These beaches also get an abundance of sunshine and are fabulous spots to sit back, relax, and sunbathe.

Biking at Lake Tahoe

From the heart-pounding downhill track of the Saxon Creek Trail (nickname: Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride) to the gorgeous Flume Trail there are rides for every technical level. For the truly ambitious, you can link trails and ride seven summits in one day.
Tahoe South has been designated as a Bike Friendly Community, so bike paths for the social spin are plentiful and so are local bike shops staffed by experts that rent and sell quality bikes. The famed loop around Lake Tahoe is 72 miles of scenery: deep blue water, Douglas Fir groves, and breathtaking views of Emerald Bay. The road also passes quaint waterfront lodging and plenty of eateries to fuel the journey.

Boating on Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is North America’s largest alpine lake.   After Crater Lake, it’s also the second deepest lake in the U.S. and comes in sixth in volume of freshwater behind the five Great Lakes.  Lake Tahoe is world-renowned for its crystal clear water and stunning scenery.
South Lake Tahoe offers the full range of beach activities, water sports, sightseeing, marina facilities, fishing opportunities and more. From power boats and sail boats, to jet skis, parasailing and paddle sports, such as canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and more, Tahoe Sports has it all and with special discounts for Forest Suites’ guests!   Whether you own your own boat or water sport equipment, or are looking to rent and enjoy the Lake for the day, South Lake Tahoe has it all!

Golf at Lake Tahoe

The South Lake Tahoe area has six distinctive golf courses, each with its own vibe and views.  From the world-renowned Edgewood Golf Course directly on the shores of Lake Tahoe, to the mountain-pines environment of the Lake Tahoe Golf Course, there are courses available for all desires.   For even more variety of courses, just a short 20 miles away are a number of courses in Douglas County and Carson City, Nevada.
Join us in July for the annual American Century Celebrity Golf Championship, which is within walking distance of the resort.  Watch famous celebrities like Justin Timberlake and Charles Barkley fight for bragging rights at this family-fun event. Check out our specials page for package options when available.

Van Sickle State Park and Other Lake Tahoe Hiking

Forest Suites is located directly across from the Van Sickle Bi-State Park, which accesses scenic trails and views of Lake Tahoe and the majestic Sierras.  The park is open from late spring through late fall, and is a perfect setting for hiking, picnicking, mountain biking & horseback riding.
A little further away, but still on the South Shore, hike up glacier-carved granite slopes, find hidden waterfalls, plus the top 5 waterfalls, and discover alpine meadows painted with wildflowers.  Discover Fallen Leaf Lake, hiking Cave Rock and the top wildflower hikes in Lake Tahoe.  Six Great Hikes in Tahoe South can be found here.
